Global Chess League 2024: Interesting facts about Alpine SG Pipers' star Kateryna Lagno

Lagno is particularly renowned for her prowess in faster time controls, having secured three women’s blitz championships and one rapid championship. Her dynamic playing style and strategic acumen make her a formidable opponent on the chessboard.

The Global Chess League, a collaboration between FIDE and Tech Mahindra, has announced an exciting roster of women Superstars for its second season, scheduled to take place from October 3rd to 12th at Friends House in London. This season marks the debut of reigning FIDE World Champion Ju Wenjun, who will be joined by the World No. 1, Hou Yifan.

Yifan's return to this premier annual chess event adds to the anticipation, alongside Indian chess icons Koneru Humpy and Harika Dronavalli. The line-up features an impressive array of talent, including prominent names such as Kateryna Lagno, Valentina Gunina, Alexandra Kosteniuk, Tan Zhongyi, and Nurgyul Salimova.
