The India team, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, is currently engaged in a Test assignment against Bangladesh. The Indian batters including captain Rohit Sharma displayed a dismal performance on the first day of India vs Bangladesh Test in Chennai. However, a slip-up like such can not override the achievements that Rohit Sharma has attained as the Indian leader. Apart from the wins and the trophies, Rohit Sharma has gained credit as the leader who has inculcated unity and equality within the squad. Recently, Indian all-rounder Axar Patel opened up about the same and explained how Sharma is always at the aid of the bowlers.
Axar Patel explains the 'simple funda' of Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma is widely respected by his teammates and is often described as someone easy to get along with. His interactions with players on the field have given fans insight into his leadership style. Speaking on this, all-rounder Axar Patel highlighted that Rohit allows bowlers full freedom to implement their plans, while also taking the initiative to prepare thoroughly before matches. Rohit is known to draft strategies not only against opposing teams but also for individual players.
“Simple funda hai unka. He doesn't like to complicate things too much. He comes in after learning his lessons. He knows which bowler will be used in what kind of situation and which one won't and after that he would leave it to the bowlers," Axar said in his latest interaction. "He doesn't interfere much with the bowlers. Yes if I ask that I want this thing and I am planning this, then he will give that without any qualms. But if that didn't work then he would come in and suggest that it might not be working and say I feel something else might be better," he added.
Axar Patel, furthermore, informed that he has never had to argue with the captain over a decision. The all-rounder highlighted that Sharma has developed such a rapport with him and the rest of the team members that there’s no space for disagreements to crop up. Moreover, Patel talked about how Rohit Sharma strays away from orthodox decisions as the captain of the side and identifies the demand of the situation on the field.
"It has never, at least for me I haven't argued with him, such is the rapport between us that I have never had an argument with him nor have I ever disagreed with him," he added. "Rohit as a captain does not think that a lefty cannot bowl to a left-arm batter or a righty to a right-arm batter. That is the sign of a captain whether you can recognise the strength of the bowler and know that this person can get you out of a tough situation," he concluded.
