2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup: India vs Bangladesh Warm Up Match

Only 2 days are left before the start of the 9th edition of T20 World Cup 2024, where a total of 55 group stage matches will be played between 20 teams for the first time and out of these teams, the Indian team are favourites to win the main event as they have got one of the best players in the squad. But before the start of group stage matches, every team will get a chance to get ready for the main event by playing warm-up games against each other in the USA and West Indies. 

The 2007 T20 World Champions, Team India, will be playing their first warm-up games against Bangladesh tomorrow at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium. It will be interesting to see the match between these 2 Asian teams, who share a great rivalry against each other when it comes to the ICC events, where in 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup India was eliminated from the group stage after getting defeated by Bangladesh, whereas in 2016 T20 World Cup India defeated Bangladesh by 1 run when the Bengal Tigers were required 2 runs off 1 ball and the former Indian captain MS Dhoni made a sensational runout.

Talking about the upcoming match between India and Bangladesh, India will be playing their first T20 International match after January 2024. The last T20I game they played was against Afghanistan after the Indian team played a 5-match Test Series against England and took part in the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League from their respective franchise. 

Meanwhile, Bangladesh are coming out in this game after playing a 5-match T20Is series against Zimbabwe and a 3-match T20Is series against USA, where in the first series, they won the series by 4-1 but faced an upset by Zimbabwe in the final match. However, in the series against USA, they faced a horrific defeat of 2-1 after getting defeated by the hosts for the first time in international cricket.

Looking at the above conditions, it will be interesting to see who will emerge victorious between these 2 teams in tomorrow’s game as Bangladesh will try to forget the upsets which they faced in the previous 2 series, whereas the Indian team will asses the playing conditions of New York Cricket Stadium in USA with trying different team combinations.

The match will be played at the newly built New York Cricket Stadium also known as  Nassau County International Cricket Stadium will be a batting-friendly pitch. The outfield is made from Kentucky bluegrass, and the drop-in pitches composed of Tahoma bermudagrass, are crafted under the guidance of Damian Hough from Adelaide Oval. The matches scheduled here are likely to produce high totals and bring forth the thrill of the T20 format. Its flat bouncy track might provide assistance to the spinners as well. 

Probable Best Batsman from India

The Indian run-machine Virat Kohli, who has scored most runs in Indian Premier League 17th edition, will be missing the warm-up game against Bangladesh as he will be seen playing in the opening game against Ireland on June 5th, 2024. In the absence of Virat Kohli, it will be a great opportunity for the Young Yashasvi Jaiswal to get his lost form back before the start of the tournament. Apart from this, we can see Rishabh Pant scoring crucial runs for the Indian team.

Mustafizur Rahman could be the best bowler in the upcoming game against India as he has been going through great form after being the leading wicket-taker for the Chennai-based franchise in the initial stage of the tournament before coming back to the home for the Zimbabwe Series. In the last game against USA, Fiz was also declared man of the match for his exceptional performance with the ball, where he picked 6 wickets in his 4 overs of spells.
