In the 4-match T20I series between the England and Pakistan teams, the English team led the series 1-0, after the 3rd T20I match, was abandoned due to rain. These two teams will clash for the final match tomorrow at Kennington Oval in London for the 4th T20I game after the guest lost the 2nd match by 23 runs while chasing a target of 184 runs in 20 overs. Despite good knocks from Left-hand batsman Fakhar Zaman and Imad Wasim, Pakistan couldn't cross the finish line, being bowled out for 160 runs.
After Pakistan’s loss in the 2nd T20I, former England cricketer Micheal Vaughan criticises the English team management for calling their players back from the ongoing Indian Premier League to play against Pakistan as it’s not going to help them in preparing for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup. Talking about both teams, they have got one of the best players in their playing 11, who can single-handedly change the game for their respective teams. Through this news piece, we will cover 3 important players from both sides who can play a crucial role in tomorrow’s game.
1. Phil Salt vs Imad Wasim
Phil Salt has been in top-notch form for the England team since his return from the Indian Premier League, where he was the top-run scorer for the Kolkata-based franchise in the initial stage of the tournament before returning to the country. However, the right-hand opener was unable to score runs against Imad Wasim and got caught in the 2nd match of the series on the score of just 13 runs.
It will be interesting to see how Phil Salt will play against the left-arm spinner as he doesn’t have a great record against him, where he bowled 30 balls and scored just 33 while getting dismissed on 3 occasions.
2. Jos Buttler vs Haris Rauf
The English captain made a return to the England team with a match-winning fifty against Pakistan in the 2nd T20I of the 4-match series. However, he couldn’t take his innings forward and got caught on the score of 84 runs in 18th over of the innings on the ball of Haris Rauf.
The Pakistan right-arm pacer holds a great record against the England skipper, who got him out twice in sixteen deliveries in T20Is by conceding just 25 runs with a strike rate of 156.
3. Will Jacks vs Shaheen Afridi
Will Jacks has been returning to England squad after an impressive performance in the IPL 2024 from a Bangalore-based franchise, where he scored a hundred against Gujarat Titans and helped the Challengers in reaching the playoffs before returning to the country. However, it will be interesting to see how Jacks will play against Pakistan star bowler Shaheen Afridi, who has dismissed him once, conceding 34 runs in only 19 deliveries.
