After having lost the toss and being asked to bat first on a flat Eden Gardens pitch, the Lucknow Super Giants got off to a fantastic start at the top with both their openers, Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram looking in a fine form. The opening duo stitched an excellent partnership of 99 runs before Markram was dismissed at the score of 47 runs off just 28 balls. However, the pair of Marsh and Nicholas Pooran then wrecked havoc with a phenomenal stand of 71 runs in just 5 overs. Marsh continued his exceptional form with another blazing knock of 81 runs off 48 deliveries that included 6 fours and 5 sixes. On the other hand, Pooran remained unbeaten at 87 off 36 balls to help the Lucknow Super Giants post a mighty total of 238 runs on the scoreboard in their quota of 20 overs.

2. Rahane, Iyer show off some sensational fightback
The Kolkata Knight Riders had an explosive start during the mammoth run-chase as they ended smashing a total of 90 runs in the first six overs of the powerplay. The duo of skipper Ajinkya Rahane and Venkatesh Iyer continued the big-hitting with a fearless partnership of 71 runs to maintain the required run-rate in the middle-overs. KKR skipper Rahane led his team from the front with an impressive knock of 61 runs off just 35 balls while Venkatesh notched up 45 runs off only 29 deliveries.
3. Brilliant death bowling helps LSG pick up an exciting 4-run win over KKR
At the halfway stage during the huge run-chase, defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders were very much in the hunt. However, the trio of LSG pacers, Akash Deep, Shardul Thakur and Avesh Khan picked up vital wickets during the last few overs to pull back things quite efficiently. KKR captain Rahane's wicket triggered a massive batting collapse as the home team lost a total of 5 wickets in the gap of just 23 runs. During the final over, KKR required as many as 24 runs off 6 deliveries with Rinku Singh at the non-striker's end and Harshit Rana on strike.
While coming in as the Impact Player, leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi held his nerves remarkably well to successfully defend those 24 runs in the last over and help the Lucknow Super Giants pick up a thrilling victory.
