In the fourth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season, the Delhi Capitals (DC) will be hosting the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at their second home in Visakhapatnam on 24 March, 2025. Things did not work out really well for both these teams in the previous edition of the T20 competition as they failed to qualify for the playoffs and therefore, they would be hoping for an improved performance this year. Interestingly, both these sides will be led by two brand new captains as Axar Patel will be seen for the first time in the leadership role with the Delhi Capitals while Rishabh Pant will be up against his former franchise as now the Lucknow Super Giants skipper. In this blog post, checkout the top five players to watch out for in the DC vs LSG IPL 2025 match.

Top five contenders to watch out for in the DC vs LSG IPL 2025 match

1. Rishabh Pant

Not many were surprised when premier Indian wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant fetched a massive amount of INR 27 Crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction by the Lucknow Super Giants. After coming out from a life-threatening car accident, the swashbuckling left-hander went on to smash an impressive total of 446 runs from 13 games in the previous edition of the Indian Premier League. Following the IPL 2024 return to competitive cricket, Pant went on to be part of India's victorious campaigns at the T20 World Cup 2024 and ICC Champions Trophy 2025. While talking about Rishabh Pant stats in IPL history, the wicket-keeper batter has scored 3284 runs from 111 matches at a fine strike-rate of close to 150 that includes 18 fifties and 1 century. This will be an important IPL season for Rishabh as he hasn't played much of white-ball cricket for India lately since the T20 World Cup 2024.

2. Axar Patel

Things have changed big time for Axar Patel since IPL 2024 as he has now won both the T20 World Cup 2024 and ICC Champions Trophy 2025 alongside playing crucial roles with the bat and ball during India's sensational triumphs. While considering his fabulous contributions as an all-rounder in the last few seasons, the team management has showed immense faith and named him as the Delhi Capitals captain for the IPL 2025 season. The southpaw all-rounder performed really well for the Delhi Capitals last year having taken 11 wickets and also scored 235 runs from 14 games. He will surely be high on confidence after winning two ICC trophies and with a balanced unit, DC might bring home their maiden IPL trophy this year.

3. Nicholas Pooran

There wasn't much of surprise when the Lucknow Super Giants decided to choose explosive wicket-keeper batter Nicholas Pooran as their number one retention ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction at a mammoth price of INR 21 Crore. This mainly happened due to his impactful performances for LSG especially in the previous couple of years as he notched up a fantastic total of 499 runs from 14 games at a sensational strike-rate of close to 180. While talking about his stats in the IPL history so far, Pooran has smashed 1769 runs in 76 matches at an excellent strike-rate of more than 162.

4. Jake Fraser McGurk

After witnessing his staggering exploits with the bat in the last edition of the IPL, the Delhi Capitals did not shy away at all and shelled out a whopping amount of INR 9 Crore for Jake Fraser McGurk in the mega auction. The Aussie right-hander smashed an impressive total of 330 runs at a magnificent strike-rate of over 234 from just 9 matches in IPL 2024 that included as many as four fifties. However, since then, he has failed to replicate this fabulous batting form into international cricket having scored 113 runs in 7 T20I matches for Australia. The IPL 2025 will be a perfect oppotunity for McGurk to make a firepower comeback.

5. Kuldeep Yadav

Delhi Capitals retained left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav at a price worth INR 13.25 Crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction due to his smashing performance with the ball last year. He ended up taking a total of 16 wickets from 11 matches in IPL 2024. Kuldeep was also part of India's triumphs at the T20 World Cup 2024 and ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He has picked up as many as 87 IPL wickets so far in 84 games at an economy of 8.21.
