In the sixth match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) will be hosting the defending champions at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati scheduled to take place on 26 March, 2025. Both these teams are coming into this match after having experienced quite similar results in their respective opening matches during this T20 competition. During the tournament opener, Kolkata Knight Riders suffered a comprehensive 7-wicket defeat at the hands of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) while Rajasthan Royals ended up losing their first match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. In this article, we will have a look at the top five players to watch out for in the upcoming RR vs KKR IPL 2025 match.

Top five contenders to watch out for in the RR vs KKR IPL 2025 match

1. Ajinkya Rahane

Despite suffering a convincing defeat, newly appointed Kolkata Knight Riders captain Ajinkya Rahane had a brilliant start with the bat in this Indian Premier League 2025 season. While coming on to the crease quite early in the very first over of the match, the senior right-hander dominated the opposition bowlers amazingly well in the first six overs of the powerplay. Rahane smashed an impressive innings of 56 runs off just 31 deliveries that included 6 fours and 4 sixes. Incidentally, it was his prized scalp that completely changed momentum of the KKR innings and allowed the opposition to make a comeback. Ajinkya will be hoping to continue this fine batting form in the game against Rajasthan as well.

2. Yashasvi Jaiswal

Young and dynamic opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal failed to come good in the first match against Sunrisers Hyderabad as he got out to fast bowler Simarjeet Singh after scoring just a single run off as many as five balls. However, the southpaw opener definitely has the ability to make a superb comeback and therefore, he will be a key player to watch out for in the Rajasthan Royals vs Kolkata Knight Riders IPL 2025 match starting on Wednesday. He came into the IPL 2025 season after doing really well in the Border Gavaskar Trophy Down Under. Interestingly, Jaiswal had a breakthrough season in IPL 2023 where he composed an exceptional total of 625 runs from 14 matches at an excellent strike-rate of close to 165 that included five fifties and one century.

3. Varun Chakravarthy

Despite defending a below-par first innings total, it was very much surprising for everyone that in-form mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy was being hit in all parts of the ground by RCB's opening duo of Virat Kohli and Phil Salt. In his quota of four overs, the right-arm legspinner went on to concede as many as 43 runs and managed to pick up just a single wicket. Chakravarthy was coming into this tournament on the back of a stunning performance for India especially playing a vital role in their ICC Champions Trophy 2025 victory. He was retained by KKR at a whopping price of INR 12 Crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction .

4. Sanju Samson

The Rajasthan Royals suffered a big setback just before the start of the T20 competition when it was revealed that regular captain Sanju Samson will take the field only as a batter during their first three games. Therefore, the right-hander played the first game for RR as an Impact Player against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday. But his batting never really allowed anyone to raise questions on his capabilities as he smacked a blistering innings of 66 runs off only 37 balls that included 7 fours and 4 sixes. Apart from the T20I series against England at home, Samson has performed consistently well for India in the shorter format of the game and he will be eyeing to do the same in the RR vs KKR IPL 2025 match.

5. Riyan Parag

It was a tough captaincy debut for Riyan Parag as under his leadership, Rajasthan Royals suffered a poor 44-run defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad. He also failed to contribute much with the bat having scored just 4 runs off a couple of deliveries. He will definitely be aiming to make a strong comeback both with the bat and as a captain. Parag notched up loads of runs in the previous IPL season, having scored a total of 573 runs from 15 games at a wonderful average of 52.09 that included as many as four half-centuries.
