The West Indies team has faced a blow just ahead of the third and final test against England. Pacer Jeremiah Louis has been ruled out of the team due to a hamstring injury. With the final test of the West Indies’ Tour of England scheduled for July 26th, Cricket West Indies has named Akeem Jordan as Jeremiah’s replacement in the squad. The team, however, is not expected to face any serious implications since Jeremiah didn’t make it to the Playing XI in any of the previous matches. The bowler is said to have picked up the injury during the second clash at Trent Bridge. Akeem Jordan, meanwhile, proved to be an easy replacement for his counterpart because the pacer was already present in the UK. Jordan has joined the squad and will be a part of the team’s training on Wednesday before the third match against England.

Akeem Jordan Replaces An Injured Jeremiah Louis For The Final Test

Akeem Jordan is yet to debut for West Indies in the longest format. However, the fast bowler boasts an impressive record in his first-class career. The 29-year-old has played 19 first-class games, taking 67 wickets at an average of 24.10. Moreover, Jordan has registered two five-wicket hauls to his name, with his best being 5 for 44.

The West Indies team is playing the likes of Shamar Joseph and Alzarri Joseph as their primary pace options. Battling for the Richard-Botham Trophy, West Indies has faced two consecutive defeats against the hosts. The first defeat came by a huge margin, as the guests went down by 114 runs and an innings against England at Lord’s.

The second test at Trent Bridge featured four centuries, scored by the English and West Indies batters. Ollie Pope scored 121 off 167 in the first innings before West Indies batter Kavem Hodge retaliated with a 120 off 171 knock of his own. The second innings witnessed Root climbing up the list of all-time highest Test run scorers as he registered a 122 off 178 score. Moreover, Harry Brook added to the English run tally with a 109 off 132 century.

West Indies eventually faced another defeat at the hands of England, this time by 242 runs. Going 2-0 against England on the tour, West Indies will look to seek redemption in the final match, if not the trophy. Now, it remains to be seen if Akeem Jordan can secure a place in the Playing XI, though the chances seem slim right now.
