India and South Africa faced off in the T20 World Cup 2024 Final at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on June 29. Both teams remained undefeated throughout the tournament, and the final game was nothing short of a thriller. Opting to bat first, India was reeling on 34 for 3 in four overs. Thanks to Virat Kohli's 76 off 59 and Axar Patel's 47 off 31, India posted 176 for 7 on the board. Heinrich Klaasen then took charge, scoring a blazing 52 off 27, propelling South Africa into a commanding position.
Hardik Pandya held his nerve by getting rid of the dangerous Klaasen in the 17th over, putting India back in the game. Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh maintained a tight grip in the following overs, leaving the Proteas to chase 16 runs off the last over with Miller on strike. Vice-captain Pandya, bowling the 20th over, removed Miller on the first ball as Surykumar Yadav took the most important catch of his life at long-on.
