The runners-up of the last edition of the Indian Premier League, the Sunrisers Hyderabad began the new season on a rollicking note. In their first game of the IPL 2025, SRH posted a gigantic score of 286 against Rajasthan Royals at home. They secured a 44-run win and cautioned the opponents on their batting approach. However, since that game, SRH have failed to emulate a similar approach with the bat. They have lost three games on the trot with the last defeat coming against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens Stadium on Thursday.

Before that, they lost to Lucknow Super Giants by five wickets and Delhi Capitals by seven wickets. In four games, Sunrisers Hyderabad have three losses now and find themselves right at the bottom of the points tally. For skipper Pat Cummins, there are plenty of issues to address right now. SRH ought to come up with the right approach and shift the momentum back in their favour. In this article, we have listed three things that SRH needs to sort out as quickly as it can to get its campaign back on track. Here’s a look at those:

A look at SRH's biggest concerns in IPL 2025 so far:

1. Failure at the top of the order:

After witnessing the fireworks with the bat in their first game, fans anticipated SRH to breach the 300-run mark, this season. However, their scores in the following three games read: 190, 163, and 120. Abhishek Sharma is facing the heat for not emulating last year’s performance. He has three single-digit scores to his name with his highest score being 24 scored in the first game against Rajasthan.

Ishan Kishan hogged the limelight after notching up a century against RR in the first game. But, the southpaw has failed badly, since. His scores in the last three games read: 0,2,2. For SRH to get their season back on track, the top three have to come up with substantial performances. Travis Head too got out early in the last game against KKR. Perhaps, the batters can give themselves some time in the middle before launching an attack to the opposition.

2. Middle-Order needs to step up

There is no denying that Sunrisers Hyderabad have a solid batting line-up. Their depth in batting is something to admire. Following the top three batters, they have batters like Nitish Kumar Reddy, Heinrich Klaasen and Aniket Verma. However, all of them are yet to play to their full potential. Nitish Kumar Reddy, who, recently, made his India debut, is to announce his arrival this season. The all-rounder got starts in the first two games but couldn’t convert.

He looked out of sorts in his last two outings both with the bat and in the field. With the top four not being in the best of form, Heinrich Klaasen ought to take more responsibility on his shoulders and try to convert those 30s into big scores and play right till the end. While Aniket Verma has turned out to be a big positive, whether he will be able to stay consistent remains to be seen.

3. Bowling looks to be their biggest worry

While there are concerns with the bat, SRH’s biggest worry right now is their bowling. The trio of Pat Cummins, Harshal Patel, and Mohammed Shami has struggled badly this season. Harshal Patel is their highest wicket-taker with just four wickets to his name, while Cummins and Shami have three each. Their lead spinner, Adam Zampa couldn’t make his opportunity count, conceding 48 runs for two wickets in two games.
