Surprisingly, former Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni did came out to bat at the fourth position during the run-chase against Kolkata Knight Riders. On his entry at the crease, Dhoni was greeted with a lot of chanting from the Chepauk crowd. The chants were so much high on volume that Kolkata Knight Riders' star all-rounder Andre Russell was actually seen blocking his ears. Dhoni remained unbeaten after scoring a single run off three deliveries and fittingly, he allowed CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad to hit the winning runs.

While talking about the 22nd match of IPL 2024, the CSK bowlers did a wonderful job to restrict the Kolkata Knight Riders at a below-par total of 137 for 9 in their 20 overs. None of their KKR batters managed to convert their start into a big innings as skipper Shreyas Iyer top scored with 34 runs off 32 balls. For CSK, left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja was the pick of the bowlers having taken three crucial wickets and conceded just 18 runs in his quota of four overs. Tushar Deshpande also took three scalps while Mustafizur Rahman finished with two wickets.

In the tricky run-chase, CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad led his team from the front as he played an impressive unbeaten knock of 67 runs off 58 balls that included a total of nine boundaries. His crucial knock ensured that Chennai Super Kings successfully chased down the total with as many as 14 balls to spare.
