A few days ago, after announcing his retirement from international cricket, former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan joined hands with Legends League Cricket to enjoy the game across the country with legends in the third edition of the tournament.
On Tuesday, Dinesh Karthik also announced his participation in the upcoming edition of Legends League Cricket after becoming the first Indian cricket player to be a brand ambassador for the next edition of Betway SA20. Not only that, he will also be the first Indian player to play in the South African cricket league after being picked up by the Paarl Royals franchise for their third edition.
The former RCB wicket-keeper batsman doesn’t want to be away from the Gentlemen’s game after announcing his retirement during the 17th edition of the IPL (Indian Premier League) in the qualifier match against the Rajasthan Royals. Following his retirement from international cricket, the team management selected him as a batting coach and mentor of RCB for the next season.
Recently, Karthik expressed his excitement about joining the Legends League, and as quoted by Sportskeeda, he stated that he is ready to play competitive cricket again. He also thanked fans for their constant support and is looking forward to entertaining them once more.
"Playing in the Legends League Cricket is definitely something I am looking forward to after my retirement. I am up to the task both mentally and physically and look forward to playing the brand of cricket I have always enjoyed. Most importantly, to the fans, thank you for your constant support, and I hope to entertain you once again on the field."
Dinesh Karthik played across formats for India, and at the fag end of his career, he developed into a reliable finisher. Karthik represented the Indian National team from 2004 to 2022 in all formats, playing 36 Tests, 96 ODIs, and 60 T20Is, with 17 fifties and 1 century to his name in an 18-year-long career.
