Arshdeep Singh Leading The Indian Test Squad Selection Race - Reports
According to reports, the Indian side is keen on including Arshdeep Singh in the Test team. The 25-year-old pacer displayed an exceptional performance for the team in their T20 World Cup campaign. Playing in all the matches, Singh emerged as India’s highest wicket-taker at the tournament. Moreover, Singh ended as the joint highest wicket-taker of the tournament along with Afghanistan’s Fazalhaq Farooqi.
“Arshdeep has moved the ball impressively in white-ball matches for India. He could be asked to play a few domestic red-ball games, starting with the Duleep Trophy on September 5, to enhance his chances of selection for the Australia tour. There’s a real chance that he could be India’s trump card, along with (Jasprit) Bumrah, in Australia,” the reports read, as quoted by TOI.
The pacer scalped 17 wickets in 8 matches at an average of 12.64 with an economy of 7.16. Playing in 5 ODIs for the team, Arshdeep has already registered a 5-wicket haul to his name. As for the stats, Singh has 10 ODI wickets, taken at an average of 18.40.
What's Ahead For India In Tests?
Team India, currently busy with the proceedings for the Sri Lanka Tour, has a thrilling Test series lined up at the end of 2024.
