BCCI alerts players and teams about a Hyderabad-based businessman in IPL 2025

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has issued a serious warning to everyone associated with the IPL, including team owners, players, coaches, support staff, and even broadcasters. The warning concerns a suspicious individual from Hyderabad who is allegedly trying to drag IPL stakeholders into corrupt practices. As per the report, the Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) has identified the man as a businessman with prior connections to bookmakers and has a history of engaging in unethical activities. The unit suspects he is actively attempting to compromise those involved in the IPL and has urged franchises to remain vigilant, report any interaction with the individual, and disclose any existing connection.

The ACSU has also explained how the man operates, often pretending to be an enthusiastic fan while targeting IPL personnel with lavish gifts. Another tactic reportedly involves approaching the families of players or team members and offering high-end business proposals such as jewellery stores and hotels, all under the guise of fandom.

“The individual in question is reportedly attempting to get himself close to the IPL participants by masquerading as a fan. He has allegedly been spotted at the team hotels and in the matches, making efforts to befriend players and staff, and inviting potential targets to private parties. There is also information of him offering gifts not only to team members but also to their families,” the report read.

Meanwhile, the action is intensifying at IPL 2025 with 31 matches already completed at the league stage. Defying the earlier set trends in the league's history, the champions with most credits to their name, Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians have been pushed to the bottom of the points table. Meanwhile, underdogs like Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals, who remain in the search of their maiden title-victory have impressed with commanding and consistent victories so far in the league.
