Australia and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) all-rounder Cameron Green recently opened up about his selection for the upcoming ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, as well as his poor start to the IPL 2024 season and the pressure of being one of the costliest players in the tournament. Green also revealed how the Australian team handles the pressure of expectations, especially in the ICC events and big matches. They are ready for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and West Indies. The star all-rounder said that he really feels proud to have been selected for Australia's T20 World Cup squad. The T20 World Cup 2024 is just around the corner, and the reigning TEST and ODI champions Australia will be led by star all-rounder Mitchell Marsh.
Cameron Green sends warning to all teams ahead of T20 World Cup 2024
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru star discussed how Australian players handle high expectations. He mentioned that their past successes give them confidence, and their history of winning major tournaments like the T20 World Cup and the ODI World Cup allows them to approach big matches with less pressure. Unlike teams like South Africa, who have faced disappointment in ICC tournaments, Australia's strong track record reduces the burden of expectations. Cameron Green stated that this allows the Australian team to play aggressively, and it works for them.
"We've always had a lot of confidence because we've had a lot of success previously. That allows us to go into the tournament with less pressure because most of the team members have won a T20 World Cup already and the ODI World Cup as well," Cameron Green said.
"I think that's always in the back of our mind, and it has helped. We don't have that extra pressure like maybe a South African team might have because they keep falling short every World Cup. We play our natural game and probably play with a bit more aggression than other countries do," Green added.
Meanwhile, Cameron Green had a poor start to his IPL 2024 campaign. Green reflected on his eventful IPL season with the RCB, describing his journey as quite a roller-coaster. The Australian all-rounder admitted that he felt like RCB's campaign was over at the halfway point, but they managed an incredible comeback in the IPL. The Australian all-rounder credited the strong off-field camaraderie and close-knit relationships among the players for the RCB's remarkable turnaround in the IPL, saying it has been helping the team to maintain team unity and spirit, especially during the tough and crunch moments.
