Zimbabwe Cricket has unveiled its 15-member T20I squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against Bangladesh, slated to kick off on May 3. The series promises riveting cricketing action as both teams vie for supremacy. The initial trio of matches will unfold in Chattogram, with the final duet scheduled for Dhaka. While Zimbabwe missed out on securing a spot in the imminent T20 World Cup 2024, commencing on June 2, this series serves as invaluable preparation for Bangladesh as they gear up for the prestigious tournament. Of notable interest is Zimbabwe's strategic selection, with the return of Tadiwanashe Marumani and Faraz Akram bolstering the squad's dynamics. Sikandar Raza retains the captaincy, adding his experience and leadership to the team. Additionally, Johnathan Campbell, son of former captain Alistair Campbell, joins the ranks, promising to make his mark in the series.

The remainder of the squad mirrors the contingent that journeyed to Sri Lanka in January 2024. Notably, in the absence of a head coach, former cricketer Stuart Matsikenyeri steps up to guide the team, bringing his wealth of cricketing knowledge and expertise to the fore. With seasoned players and fresh talent amalgamating under Matsikenyeri's stewardship, Zimbabwe aims to make a resounding statement in the forthcoming series against Bangladesh.

Clive Madande and Brian Bennett Java have cemented their positions in the senior team and are set to feature prominently. Facing Bangladesh presents a formidable challenge for the visitors, yet they draw strength from their recent series against Sri Lanka. In their recent encounter with Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe clinched one victory, leveling the series before succumbing in the decider. Despite the loss, their resilient performance against Sri Lanka instills confidence as they gear up to face Bangladesh.

Bangladesh, fresh from a T20I series against Sri Lanka, faced disappointment with two defeats out of three matches, resulting in a series loss. With areas for improvement evident, they approach the upcoming clash against Zimbabwe with a determination to rectify their shortcomings and emerge victorious.
