The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has implemented a new set of regulations for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL 2025 season), aimed at streamlining operations and maintaining discipline within the teams. One of the primary changes focuses on restricting access to the dressing rooms. Under the new guidelines, family members of players and support staff will no longer be allowed to enter the dressing rooms, even during practice sessions. This move is intended to help maintain the focus and professionalism of the players and coaching staff during the high-pressure tournament.

Additionally, the BCCI has introduced a new travel policy for players, mandating that all team members travel to match venues and practice sessions via the designated team bus. This new rule is aimed at ensuring uniformity and discipline in team logistics, reducing any potential distractions and ensuring the players are all together, fostering team unity.

These changes were officially communicated to all IPL franchises and team managers during a virtual meeting held on February 18. The BCCI hopes that these measures will simplify the matchday procedures, reduce off-field distractions, and help maintain a professional and focused environment for the players as they prepare for the upcoming season.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has long emphasized the importance of maintaining professionalism within the Indian Premier League. In light of recent concerns over dressing room access and logistical discipline, the board has introduced additional regulations to ensure a controlled and focused environment. These new measures, communicated via email to all franchises, include updates on matchday attire, fitness tests, and practice schedules, further streamlining operations.

One significant change is the restriction on access to the dressing rooms and field of play. Similar to policies followed by Team India players during international fixtures, only accredited staff members will be allowed in these areas on practice and match days. This rule is designed to minimize distractions and maintain a high level of discipline among players and support staff. The BCCI’s steps are aimed at ensuring uniformity and professionalism across the IPL, aligning the tournament with the standards seen in international cricket. By implementing these measures, the board hopes to create a more disciplined and focused environment for the players, fostering optimal performance throughout the season.

"On practice days (during pre-tournament & tournament), only accredited staff is allowed in the dressing room and on the field of play. Player family members and may friends travel in a different vehicle and can watch team practice from the hospitality area. For extended support staff (throw down specialist/net bowlers) list need to be submitted for approval to the BCCI. Once approved, non-match day accreditations will be issued for the same," the mail read as noted by a source.

In addition to restricting access to the dressing room, the BCCI has implemented a new rule regarding fitness tests on match days. Previously, physios would conduct fitness assessments on the main square before games, but this practice will no longer be allowed. This change aims to maintain the integrity of matchday operations and avoid disruptions.

Furthermore, to foster team unity and streamline logistics, the BCCI has mandated that all players travel to practice sessions and matches using the team bus. This regulation is intended to ensure better coordination and eliminate any logistical issues that might arise from individual transportation. These changes, part of the broader set of measures introduced for the IPL 2025 season, reflect the BCCI's commitment to maintaining discipline, professionalism, and a controlled environment throughout the tournament. By enforcing these rules, the board aims to enhance focus and unity within the teams.
