The injury scare occurred on Day 5 of the third Test at the Gabba, where Head appeared to struggle with discomfort in his groin while batting. However, Head’s latest remarks have brought much-needed relief to the Australian side, which is looking to field its strongest XI for the crucial encounter.

Travis Head injury to heal up before the Border Gavaskar Trophy Boxing Day Test?

Head has been an integral part of Australia’s batting lineup, and his presence provides stability and firepower in the middle order. His form and confidence are vital as the hosts aim to secure a series victory against a competitive Indian side. Despite the injury concern, Head remained optimistic about his recovery, stating that he has already begun rehabilitation and expects to be in peak condition for the final Test. The fourth Test promises to be a high-stakes battle, and Head’s availability will be a significant boost for Australia. His determination to overcome the setback and be ready for the deciding game highlights his commitment to the team and the importance of the series in shaping Australia’s Test cricket fortunes.

"Very pleased with the way I am batting at the moment. Just a little sore, but I should be fine," stated Travis Head during the post-match interview.

Travis Head revealed that his groin issue has been a lingering concern for some time. Despite this, he showcased remarkable form in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy, scoring his second consecutive century of the series during the first innings of the Gabba Test. Head’s brilliant knock underlined his importance to Australia’s batting lineup.

However, in the second innings, while Australia was aiming to accelerate the scoring, Head struggled visibly with his injury. He managed a quick 17 off 19 balls before falling to a well-directed bouncer from Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj. His discomfort was evident throughout his brief stay at the crease, as he appeared ginger and restricted in his movements. Despite the setback, Head’s contributions remain pivotal for Australia as they prepare for the fourth Test. His ability to perform despite physical challenges reflects his resilience and commitment to the team’s success.

Travis Head has been a standout performer in the ongoing Australia vs India Border Gavaskar Trophy, emerging as the leading run-scorer with 409 runs. The left-handed middle-order batter has consistently troubled the Indian bowlers, continuing a dominant run of form that began with the World Test Championship final. His aggressive approach and ability to seize the initiative have been instrumental in Australia’s success in the series.

One of Head’s most memorable performances came in the pink-ball Test in Adelaide, where his blistering 140 off just 141 deliveries paved the way for Australia’s remarkable comeback victory. His innings not only showcased his attacking intent but also his knack for delivering under pressure, making him a key asset for the hosts. However, Head’s groin injury became a concern during the Gabba Test. While he batted in both innings, scoring a century in the first and a quick 17 in the second, he did not take the field during India’s brief second innings, which lasted just 2.1 overs before rain brought an early end to Day 5.

"I just try to sum up the conditions well. What I've done well this series is assess the conditions. Pleased with the tempo I've batted with," Head said.

"Felt like he was back in his rhythm, and he gives me full freedom and confidence knowing he's going to be there for a long while. I feel like I am playing the situation in front of me," he added.
