Unmukt Chand fails to make USA Team, Corey Anderson aims T20 World Cup 2024
Former India U-19 World Cup-winning captain Unmukt Chand, who moved to the USA for regular cricket, has been dropped from the USA T20I squad for the five-match series against Canada. Corey Anderson had featured in 13 Tests, 49 ODIs, and 31 T20Is for the Kiwis before moving to the USA to play professional cricket. The 33-year-old moved to the US in 2020 and has consistently performed in domestic leagues. As of 2024, he became eligible to play for the USA and has been announced for the T20Is against Canada. Anderson will be pressing his case for making his T20 World Cup debut for the USA later in June.
Having smashed over 1,500 runs in 45 matches across three seasons in the Minor League (MiLC), Unmukt Chand stood at the top of run charts in league history. He grabbed attention at the National T20 competition and made an impact in the three practice matches that followed. He scored 70 during the training camp to strengthen his case for selection in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. Despite all this, the selectors overlooked him.
Left-arm spinner Harmeet Singh and batter Milind Kumar were selected for the 15-member squad of the United States of America (USA) for the upcoming T20I series against Canada. Monank Patel has been appointed as captain for the upcoming series, with Aaron Jones as his deputy. The USA will make their debut in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 during the upcoming series, which will serve as a trailer for the main event later this year.
