After an impressive performance in the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League for Mumbai Indians, senior spinner Piyush Chawla has been showcasing his magic in the ongoing second edition of the UPT20 League with Noida Kings. Piyush Chawla has been part of the Indian team since 2006, having made his debut for the Men in Blue at the age of 17 years and 75 days. The star leg spinner has represented the Indian national cricket team in 35 international games, taking 43 wickets.
Despite being 35 years old, the veteran spinner has been enjoying the game of cricket in recent years in several T20 tournaments. Recently, he was seen playing in the second edition of the UPT20 League for Noida Kings, where he utilized his experience to pick up 2 wickets in his 4-over spell, conceding just 54 runs.
The match was played between Noida Super Kings and Gorakhpur Lions at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. The Super Kings are in big trouble as they have lost six wickets for 50 runs while chasing a 219-run target. The Lions, batting first, wreaked havoc on Noida’s bowlers, putting 218 runs on the board with the loss of just two wickets. Aaryan Juyal was the star with the bat, smashing a stunning century.
The only bowler to find success with the ball was Piyush Chawla. The star spinner took two wickets, registering figures of 2/54 in his four overs. At the time of writing this article, the Noida Super Kings were 7 wickets down for 65 runs. Both teams are playing their opening game of the season, and Gorakhpur has a chance to overtake Meerut Mavericks to sit on top of the table.
Meerut registered a great win in the opening game of the UP T20 League 2024 with a seven-wicket victory. With this win, they are currently at the top of the table. The Gorakhpur Lions now have a chance to win the game and claim the top spot by defeating Noida Super Kings.
