DC vs SRH IPL 2025: All-round Delhi Capitals bash Sunrisers Hyderabad
DELHI ROARING AHEAD! It was another comprehensive outing for the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season as they registered a pretty convincing 7-wicket victory over the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. This is their second consecutive win in this T20 competition and after winning the game in only 16 overs, they have also made a significant jump in their Net Run Rate (NRR) on the IPL 2025 points table. With this brilliant performance, the Delhi Capitals have claimed the second spot in the list.
DC vs SRH IPL 2025: Delhi Capitals pick up back-to-back victories
After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, the Sunrisers Hyderabad did not had the best of starts as they ended up losing as many as four vital wickets of Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Nitish Reddy and Travis Head inside the first six overs of the powerplay. Delhi Capitals' left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc bowled amazingly well with the new ball picking up three crucial wicket to dent the explosive SRH batting line-up quite early in the game. The Sunrisers Hyderabad continued to lose wickets at regular intervals which never allowed them to get going even in the middle-overs.
However, the only positive was youngster Aniket Verma who showed great temperament and composure to take the attack against the opposition bowlers. Aniket smashed a blistering knock of 74 runs off just 41 deliveries that included 6 sixes and 5 fours to help Sunrisers Hyderabad post a fighting total of 163 runs on the scoreboard. For the Delhi Capitals, Starc looked in a superb form as he picked up the first five-wicket haul of IPL 2025 while Kuldeep Yadav also took three wickets.
In reply, the Delhi Capitals had a fine kickstart in the powerplay as the opening duo of Faf du Plessis and Jake Fraser-McGurk smacked a total of 52 runs in the first six overs. Du Plessis scored a fantastic knock of 50 runs off just 27 balls that consisted of 3 sixes and as many fours. However, Fraser failed to convert his start of 38 runs into a big score. But these two openers reduced the run-chase into mere formalities. On his debut outing for the Delhi Capitals, KL Rahul notched up a quick-fire cameo of 15 runs off only 5 deliveries.
Eventually, it was Abhishek Porel who smashed an exceptional no-look six to finish the proceedings with as many as four overs to spare. Porel scored an unbeaten innings of 34 runs while Tristan Stubbs remained 21 not out in the end. In a special mention, while making his Indian Premier League debut for the Sunrisers Hyderabad, 25-year-old legspinner Zeeshan Ansari bowled remarkably well and ended up taking a total of 3 wickets from his quota of four overs.
