DC vs SRH IPL 2025: Mitchell Starc's fifer rattles Sunrisers Hyderabad's explosive batting line-up
The SRH lineup that lost the IPL 2024 to KKR would have arrived for the DC vs SRH IPL 2025 fixture wary of Mitchell Starc. After winning the IPL 2024 title with Kolkata Knight Riders, the Australian pace spearhead joined Delhi Capitals for the new season. A change in teams, however, didn't bring any transformation in the brilliance of Starc. Having picked a liking to Hyderabad's explosive lineup, Starc rattled through the order in Vizag. Pat Cummins opted to bat first, happily unaware of what his compatriot, Mitchell Starc, had in store for his team. Hyderabad's misery started with their star opener, Abhishek Sharma, being run out at the score of just 1.

Sharma's wicket was the only one to fall at the falter of Hyderabad itself. The rest of the collapse was Starc's doing, as he picked up a fifer. The onslaught started with Starc trapping Ishan Kishan, the centurion of this season, in the third over of the game. Nitish Kumar Reddy followed Kishan quickly back to the dressing room as Starc struck again in the same over to remove the batter for a 2-ball duck.

Travis Head tried but could not sustain the red-hot form of the seamer, falling at 22 off 12 in the powerplay. Starc's 3-fer reduced SRH to 37 for 4 in the powerplay itself. While Aniket Sharma pushed the SRH total to a fighting score in Vizag, Starc came back in the death. Ending the first-innings proceedings rather quickly, Starc trapped Wiaan Mulder and Harshal Patel swiftly towards the end, picking his 5-fer as SRH bundled out at a 163-run total.

A proven legend at the international scene, Mitchell Starc, interestingly, picked his first-ever T20 fifer in the DC vs SRH match. Meanwhile, with 8 wickets across two games, Starc has now won the purple cap with the most scalps in the season so far. While most of the season remains to unfold, with this form, Starc seems like one of the top contenders to win the purple cap this season.
