Chennai Super Kings pacer Deepak Chahar is a bit confused about who to look at while taking instructions on the field during the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League. In a drastic turn of events, MS Dhoni quit CSK captaincy a day before the start of the tournament, shocking cricket fans all around the world. While it looks like this might be Dhoni’s last IPL season, the rumours are yet to be confirmed by the World Cup winning captain himself. CSK has started the new IPL season with a bang, having won both the matches they played till now, i.e. against RCB last Friday, and against Gujarat Titans last night. Shivam Dube was awarded with the Player of the Match award for his stunning half-century that helped CSK set up a strong target of 207 for GT to chase.
A clip went viral last week in which MS Dhoni could be seen setting up the field placements in the match against RCB. This clip left many wondering whether Ruturaj is actually the new captain or not. Cricket legend Virender Sehwag also seemed to be confused about who the actual captain was and poked a funny question to CSK legend Suresh Raina on air during the match. Sehwag’s “Is Gaikwad actually the captain?” remark sent fans on social media into a frenzy of sorts as many agreed with what Viru Paaji had to say.
To address the captaincy mix-up between Dhoni and Gaikwad at CSK, Indian cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar asked Deepak Chahar who he looked at for fielding instructions to which the right-arm pacer said, “I got to look at Mahi bhai and at Ruturaj- both of them these days for field placements and all. So there is a bit of confusion where to look now but Ruturaj is doing well and he is leading the way.”
After starting the new IPL season with two back-to-back wins at home, CSK will now take on Delhi Capitals in Vizag on 31st March for what is going to be their first away game. After that, they will lock horns with Pat Cummins’ Sunrisers Hyderabad on 5th April at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
