England Men's selection panel have named a preliminary squad for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and United States of America starting in June. This squad will also take on Pakistan men in the preceding four-match Vitality IT20 series, which gets underway next month in Leeds. With May 1, 2024, being the cut-off for all participating teams in the T20 World Cup 2024 to be played in June in the USA and the West Indies to send their precursory drafts of their 15-member squads, England has finally released their squad. As far as the leadership is concerned, there have been no changes in terms of Jos Buttler and Moeen Ali being opted as captain and vice-captain, respectively, both of them retaining their positions from the triumphant 2022 edition.

With May 1, 2024, being the cut-off for all participating teams in the T20 World Cup 2024 to be played in June in the USA and the West Indies to send their precursory drafts of their 15-member squads, England has finally released their squad. Jos Buttler and Moeen Ali retain their positions as captain and vice-captain from the victorious 2022 T20 World Cup. England's premium fast bowler Jofra Archer has recovered from his right elbow injury and has been named on the squad. Archer's last international appearance was more than a year ago, during England's tour of Bangladesh in March 2023. Young left-arm spinner Tom Hartley is the uncapped player and, along with star RCB batter Will Jacks are the only players to not have played an ICC tournament.

Phil Salt and Jonny Bairstow were obvious picks, considering the wealth of experience in store as well as their match-winning performances in the ongoing IPL 2024 season. Both Bairstow and Salt can also act as the backup wicketkeepers for Buttler. Harry Brook, Moeen Ali, Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran, and Chris Jordan give massive strength to the middle order for the defending champions.

Also, as per the directives by the England Cricket Board, the England players who are currently taking part in the Indian Premier League will not be part of the IPL 2024 playoffs. They will be returning home for the 4-match T20I series against Pakistan. The ECB also announced that the team will travel to the Caribbean on May 31 for their T20 World Cup 2024 against Scotland at the Kensington Oval, Barbados, on Wednesday June 4.
