The United States cricket team is gaining prominence in international cricket with impressive performances in both national and international games. After a brilliant debut in the 2024 T20 World Cup, co-hosted by the USA and the West Indies, the team made headlines by defeating a Test-playing nation like Pakistan for the first time and giving tough competition to teams like India and South Africa. The USA national team players are now showcasing their prowess in the 2027 50-over World Cup qualifiers.
In a match between the USA national team and the UAE, young batter Milind Kumar made a stunning impact with a knock of 155 runs off 110 balls, hitting 16 fours and 5 sixes at a strike rate of 140. He played this exceptional innings when the USA team was struggling at 74 for 3, batting first against Oman. Kumar formed a record-breaking partnership of 191 runs with Saiteja, taking the team's total to 339 runs in 50 overs, leading to a commanding 136-run victory.
From India to USA
Milind Kumar’s innings was a treat to watch, leaving everyone in awe with his combination of class and power-hitting. His journey is nothing short of inspirational for any sportsperson. Before joining the USA cricket team, Kumar was a well-known name in Indian domestic cricket. He made his debut for Delhi in 2011, playing in both first-class and List-A formats. His talent later saw him represent Sikkim and Tripura as well.
However, it was his stellar 2018-19 Ranji Trophy season for Sikkim that truly grabbed attention. Milind accumulated a staggering 1,331 runs in 8 matches, with 6 centuries and 4 fifties, making him the top run-scorer of the season. He later earned a spot in the Indian Premier League (IPL), being part of the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in 2014 and later joining Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2019. Despite being in the squads of two top franchises, Milind never got a chance to showcase his skills on the IPL stage.
