As India and Australia took the field to continue the proceedings of the Boxing Day Test, a man wearing a slogan t-shirt made his way away from the stands and onto the field. The security at the MCG stood in question as the invader came as far as reaching Virat Kohli, who was fielding at the time. In a bizarre scene, the man wrapped his arm around the Indian cricketer before security personnel took him away from the game. Day 2 of the Boxing Day Test kept the drama afloat in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. The opening day of the fourth fixture witnessed Virat Kohli in his infamous aggressive demeanor on the field. Put to bowl first, India became the target of an impressive debut by the 19-year-old Sam Konstas. Replacing Nathan McSweeney in the opening position, Konstas showed no signs of jitters against the formidable Jasprit Bumrah. The teenager, playing his debut match at the MCG, became the one to break a streak of Bumrah not conceding a six in 4,483 balls. However, the half-century stand in his maiden Test innings made Konstas face Kohli’s antics on the opening day of his international career.

The seasoned Indian player was seen nudging the youngster with his shoulder in the 10th over of the first innings. Kohli’s unwarranted action drew severe criticism from the fraternity, with Ricky Ponting, sitting in the commentary box at the time, calling for immediate action on the Indian. Kohli faced his due punishment quite swiftly, as the ICC fined 20% of his match fees and handed 1 demerit point to the batter. However, the Australian crowd showed no mercy to the former Indian skipper as the MCG reverberated with calls against Kohli on Day 2.

Amidst the drama, an invader found the chance to reach the field. With a slogan across his clothes, the invader rushed towards the Indian captain, Rohit Sharma. However, midway through his stride, the invader turned to Kohli and put his arm around the cricketer. In an amusing turn of events, the intruder had a few seconds to show off his moves on the ground before the MCG security personnel managed to take hold of him. The incident halted the game for a few moments. Interestingly, the invader was identified as the same person who crossed the boundary rope during the 2023 ODI World Cup Final in India. At that time, too, he managed to get a photo with Virat Kohli before security rushed him out.
