Indian women's cricket team is riding high on confidence heading into the upcoming ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 in Bangladesh in October. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur believes that her team is making progress at the right time and is capable of finishing among the top four teams at the marquee event. The 9th edition of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup kickstarts from October 3-20, with the Women in Blue drawn in a tough Group A alongside six-time champions Australia, as well as 'White Ferns' New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Despite the challenging group, the Indian skipper is confident about her team's chances in the T20 World Cup in Bangladesh. India Women recently completed a 5-0 whitewash in a T20I series in Sylhet, allowing them to adapt to the conditions they'll face at the Women's T20 World Cup.

The biggest challenge for India Women could come from defending champions Australia, who have dominated them in recent ICC tournaments like the 2020 T20 World Cup final, 2022 Commonwealth Games final, and 2023 T20 World Cup semi-final. However, Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur relishes the opportunity to take on the mighty Aussies. Indian women's team kick off their ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 campaign against 'White Ferns' New Zealand on October 4 in Sylhet.
"India, Australia, England and South Africa. Because all these teams have been doing well, and hopefully, these four can qualify for the semis so we can have very good cricket over there. I think it will be Australia (who I look forward to facing) because they are very competitive," Harmanpreet Kaur said in a recent ICC interview.

"Bangladesh will be the home team, and they will know the conditions better than us. The crowd will be supporting them. But playing against them is always an exciting event. And hopefully, we will do well against them. It's a bit similar to India and hopefully, in these conditions, we should do well," Harmanpreet added.
