The 2025 Champions Trophy came to a close on Sunday, as India clinched their third title, defeating New Zealand in a closely contested final. This was Rohit Sharma’s second title triumph as a skipper in the span of nine months, adding to the 2024 T20 World Cup win - another competition that India went through undefeated. While there were plenty of standout performers and quality games in the 2025 Champions Trophy, here’s a look at which players made it to the ICC Team of the Tournament for this competition.

ICC's team of the tournament for ICC Champions Trophy 2025:

1. Rachin Ravindra - 251 runs | 62.75 avg | 2 hundreds

Rachin Ravindra has been New Zealand’s poster boy in ICC Tournaments since breaking onto the International scene. He scored a century on his debut in the 2023 ODI World Cup, and got a century on his Champions Trophy debut as well. Ravindra missed the opening game as he was nursing a head injury, but made quite the statement after returning to the side, with centuries against Bangladesh and South Africa.

2. Ibrahim Zadran - 216 runs | 72 avg | 1 hundred

Afghanistan pulled off one of the big upsets of the tournament as they defeated England in a high-scoring game in Lahore. The star of the evening was Ibrahim Zadran, who played a once in a lifetime knock as he registered the highest ever individual score in a Champions Trophy game - 177. Zadran was clinical in the game against Australia as well and deservedly makes it to the team of the tournament.

3. Virat Kohli - 218 runs | 54.5 avg | 1 hundred

Virat Kohli seems to always lift his game when it comes to ICC Tournaments, and he did so, once again. He was in a bit of patchy form heading into the competition but silenced the critics with a superb century against Pakistan. Kohli dictated the tempo in the run chase against Australia as well as in the semi-finals, paving the way for his 4th ICC Trophy as a player.

4. Shreyas Iyer - 243 runs | 48.6 avg | 2 fifties

Shreyas Iyer was India’s leading run-getter in the competition. Barring the low score against Bangladesh, Iyer stepped up in all other games. He got fifties against Pakistan and New Zealand, alongside vital cameos in the knockout games to help India to another piece of silverware.

5. KL Rahul - 140 runs | 140 avg

KL Rahul essayed the role of a finisher with great ease in the 2025 Champions Trophy. He stayed till the end in the semi-final against Australia and the final against New Zealand, calming the nerves of millions of Indian fans. This was KL Rahul’s first ICC trophy, and we must say that it was well deserved.

6. Glenn Phillips - 177 runs | 59 avg | 5 catches

Glenn Phillips’ fielding was the talk of the town in the 2025 Champions Trophy. The spellbinding catches of Rizwan, Kohli, and Shubman Gill left all in awe of the Kiwi all-rounder. Apart from his fielding though, Phillips contributed solidly with the bat with big scores against Pakistan and later against India in the final.

7. Azmatullah Omarzai - 126 runs | 42 avg | 7 wickets

The ICC ODI Player of the Year for 2024 proved his credentials with clutch performances in the Champions Trophy. He held his nerve and picked up a fifer against England, and scored a vital fifty against Australia in the next game, contributing with both bat and ball.

8. Mitch Santner - 26.6 avg | 4.8 eco rate

Mitch Santner showed his class by maintaining a solid average and economy despite playing a portion of his games on the flat decks of Pakistan. He bowled the right lengths and was difficult to get away, and not to forget his on-point captaincy throughout this tournament.

9. Mohammed Shami - 9 wickets | 25.8 avg

While India’s spin quartet caused most of the problems in this Champions Trophy, the contributions of Mohammed Shami cannot be understated. He picked a fifer in India’s first game against Bangladesh and was clinical with the new ball throughout the tournament. Shami ended as India’s leading wicket-taker as he claimed his first-ever ICC title.

10. Matt Henry - 10 wickets | 16.7 avg

Matt Henry was the leading wicket-taker of the tournament, and he was thoroughly missed in the final against India. In the absence of Southee and Trent Boult, Henry took on the role of the frontline bowler and delivered solid opening spells in all games. He was tough to play against Pakistan and then nipped the ball around against India in the group game to pick up a fifer.

11. Varun Chakaravarthy - 9 wickets | 15.1 avg

Varun Chakaravarthy proved to be an inspired selection for team India, as he ended the tournament as the joint-highest wicket-taker for his side. Chakaravarthy wasn’t picked for the first two games but made a statement performance against New Zealand with a fifer on his Champions Trophy debut. He was clinical in the semis and final as well, picking up crucial wickets as India claimed the title once again.
