India and Bangladesh will face off in the second match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on February 20. India, fresh off a dominant 3-0 victory in their recent ODI series against England, will look to continue their winning ways and maintain the momentum heading into the tournament. With their powerful lineup and solid form, India will be eager to make a strong statement from the very beginning of the Champions Trophy.

On the other hand, Bangladesh enters the tournament with a less impressive track record in ICC events. While the team has shown flashes of potential in bilateral series, they have often struggled when it comes to major tournaments. Lacking the experience of some of the top teams, Bangladesh has found it difficult to shake off the label of underachievers on the world stage. Despite this, they have a talented squad, and their players will be determined to prove themselves in this high-pressure environment.

Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and opted to bat first in their Champions Trophy 2025 opener against India. In a bid to exploit the pitch conditions, Bangladesh has decided to include three spinners in their lineup, strengthening their spin department for the match. India, meanwhile, have made a few changes to their squad. Varun Chakravarthy, who played in the recent ODI series, has been dropped, and Ravindra Jadeja has been brought back into the playing XI, adding more depth to their spin attack. Jadeja’s all-round abilities make him a valuable asset, particularly in crucial match situations.

In the pace department, India has also made a significant change. Arshdeep Singh has been left out, and Harshit Rana, who has impressed in recent domestic matches, replaces him in the India playing XI. Rana’s inclusion gives India an additional pace option alongside veteran Mohammed Shami and the ever-reliable Jasprit Bumrah. These changes indicate India’s strategic approach, aiming to have a balanced attack that can adapt to varying conditions throughout the tournament.

“I would have fielded first. We have played a few years back here so we felt the ball comes on better under lights. All looking good. Everyone is fit and fine to go. Let's hope we start well. There is no looking back, every game becomes very important in this tournament. Only Varun misses out from the last ODI we played, Jadeja comes back Arshdeep misses and Shami comes back,” stated Indian captain Rohit Sharma during the toss.
