Ahead of the second T20I against Bangladesh, Suryakumar Yadav would be aiming to match Virat Kohli’s record of being the fastest Indian batter to make 2500 runs in T20 internationals. Virat Kohli, currently, holds the record, having achieved the landmark in 73 matches. Suryakumar Yadav, on the other hand, has 2461 runs to his name in 72 T20 internationals. If he manages to score 39 runs in the next game against Bangladesh, then he will equal Virat Kohli’s record in exactly the same number of matches. As far as the overall record is concerned, Babar Azam currently leads the chart, having achieved the landmark in just 67 matches. Suryakumar Yadav is currently the world’s second-best ranked T20I batter, only behind Travis Head.

He looked in great nick in the first T20I against Bangladesh in Gwalior. India’s T20I skipper played some sumptuous shots on his way to 29 off just 14 balls before getting holed out in the deep to Jaker Ali in the 6th over. He would look to play a big knock in the second game in Delhi.

India register a seven-wicket win over Bangladesh in the first T20I

Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav-led Indian team put in a sensational performance in the first T20I, beating Bangladesh by seven wickets. Arshdeep Singh immediately put Bangladesh on the back foot by removing both the Bangladeshi openers inside the first three overs.

Wickets continued to fall at short intervals as Varun Chakravarthy and Mayank Agarwal hit the right lengths, not allowing the opposition to break free. Making his comeback in T20Is, Chakravarthy made an outstanding bowling return of 3 for 31 in four overs.

Much talked-about young fast bowler Mayank Yadav also made his debut for India in the first game of the series. He conceded 21 runs in his four overs and picked up the crucial wicket of Mahmudullah. Courtesy of a brilliant bowling effort, Bangladesh were bundled out for 127 runs.

In reply, the Indian team chased down the score in just 11.5 overs. The Indian batting unit played with aggressive intent despite wickets falling in intervals. Hardik Pandya top-scored with 39 off 16 balls and, thereby, guided the team home in just 11.5 overs.
