In a big news update coming in, Team India are not playing their premier spinner Kuldeep Yadav in the second ODI game of the three-match series against England taking place at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. The Men in Blue will definitely enter this contest with a lot of confidence after having registered a sensational 4-wicket victory in the opening encounter to take a 1-0 lead in the IND vs ENG three-match ODI series. India will surely be aiming to seal the series in their favour by winning this second match and getting their preparations underway in full-throttle for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025. 

Why is Kuldeep Yadav not playing India vs England 2nd ODI?

After losing his second toss in a row and once again being asked to field first, Indian captain Rohit Sharma revealed that left-arm legspinner Kuldeep Yadav is not part of the India playing 11 for this second ODI against England on Sunday. Rohit further stated that they have rested their premier spin bowler. Incidentally, Kuldeep made his comeback to the national side for the first time in the opening ODI against England since recovering from an injury lay-off. He picked up a single wicket in the previous game having conceded 53 runs from 9.4 overs. 

On the other hand, after a spectacular performance in the recently concluded India vs England five-match T20I series, Varun Chakravarthy has been handed over his maiden ODI cap. He managed to take as many as 14 wickets from 5 T20I matches at an exceptional average of 9.86. While talking about his numbers in List A cricket, Varun has picked up a total of 59 wickets from 23 games at a fine economy of less than 5. 

"It was a good performance in the first game. That's what I loved about. The energy was very good despite not being on the field for a while. It was superb to watch after losing two wickets. Shreyas prides himself on that intent and attitude and not to forget the contributions of Shubman and Axar as well. Black soil pitch, not sure. Maybe play on the slower side, that's what I expect. Two changes, Jaiswal makes way for Virat. Kuldeep is rested so Varun makes his debut," stated Indian captain Rohit Sharma during the toss.
