The BCCI has announced the fixtures for India’s Tour of England scheduled for the summer of 2025. The tour will see the senior men’s team face off against the hosts in a 5-match Test series. The red-ball series, spread across almost two months, will mark the onset of the new WTC cycle for India. Earlier this year, India hosted England for a five-match Test series, handing a 4-1 defeat to the visitors. However, India has not won a Test series in England since 2007. The upcoming Test series is scheduled to start on June 20, with the final Test set to conclude on August 4, 2025.

The tour will take India to major English grounds, with the series opener slated to unfold at Headingley in Leeds from June 20 to June 24. The second Test will commence after a week-long break on July 2 at Edgbaston, Birmingham. The third match will be held at the iconic Lord’s stadium in London. The fourth match will begin on July 23 at the Old Trafford ground in Manchester. The fifth and final match in the series will be played at The Oval in London, starting on July 31.

India has not won a Test series in England since their last victory in 2007 under Rahul Dravid. The team came close in 2021 as they registered a 2-1 lead under the leadership of Virat Kohli. However, the pandemic curtailed the proceedings of the last match, which was rescheduled for 2022. India failed to carry the winning momentum into 2022, as England eventually leveled the series 2-2.

However, as hosts, India has sustained dominant wins against England. The Three Lions toured India earlier this year for a 5-match Test series. Fueled by a 176-run stand by vice-captain Ollie Pope, the visitors managed a win in the series opener. However, India swung back into action from the next match onwards, as the hosts secured a 4-1 lead against England. Moreover, India found a blazing opening prospect in Yashasvi Jaiswal, as he broke many records, accumulating over 700 runs across the 5 matches. While India easily triumphed over England at home, it remains to be seen if the Men in Blue can beat the Bazball in their den.
