Former India and Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni once again turned the clock back in time with his explosive knock against arch-rivals and fellow five-time champions Mumbai Indians during Match 29 of the Indian Premier League 2024 season at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, April 14. The 42-year-old wicketkeeper-batter walked out to bat in the last over of the innings with just four balls remaining and took the attack on MI skipper Hardik Pandya, dispatching him for three consecutive sixes. Chennai's beloved Thala entertained fans with a quick-fire knock of 20* off just 4 balls, giving the crowd a throwback moment with every hit. Out of the three sixes which Dhoni hit, the first one was exceptional as he smashed a widish deliver outside the off stump and launched it high into the night sky, which travelled over long off for a massive six, almost a mirror image of the famous 2011 ODI World Cup winning shot.
MS Dhoni turns back the clock in Wankhede with three monstrous hits
Even after stepping down from the captaincy before the start of the IPL 2024 season, MS Dhoni continues to be instrumental in the CSK lineup, guiding the Super Kings with his invaluable experience and game-changing abilities. Dhoni's 250-match milestone for CSK includes 24 matches he played in the Champions League T20. Dhoni's 250th match for CSK was nothing short of a visual treat for the fans. Half-centuries from Ruturaj Gaikwad (69 off 40) and Shivam Dube (66* off 38) took CSK back on track after a slow start.
