Gujarat Titans (GT) take on Delhi Capitals (DC) in match 32 of the IPL 2024 season at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, April 17. Last year finalists Gujarat Titans have won three of their six games so far. The Titans are currently in sixth place in the points table. On the other hand, Delhi Capitals have won two and lost four in the six games they've played thus far. They are currently in ninth place in the points table. The Capitals are in search of a win to gain momentum and keep their IPL 2024 Playoff hopes alive. Just two points separate Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals, and yet they are three places apart in the points table. GT captain Shubman Gill is their highest run-scorer, averaging 51 at a strike rate of 151.
Gujarat Titans look to take advantage of injury-hit Delhi Capitals
In a massive boost for Gujarat Titans, Afghanistan superstar Rashid Khan has returned to form. Rashid started this IPL season with four wickets in four games at an economy of 9.06. In the last two games, Rashid has taken two wickets at an average of 23 and an economy of 5.75. Rashid could be the game-changer for Titans, especially against Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant, who comes into this match with 194 runs at a strike rate of 157, having smashed two-half centuries and a match-winning 41 off 24 balls in DC's match against LSG in Lucknow. In all T20s, Rashid Khan dismissed Rishabh Pant twice, giving 94 runs off 87 balls.
On the flip side, Delhi Capitals might have made up for Mitchell Marsh's absence through young Jake Fraser-McGurk, who scored a quick-fire fifty against Lucknow. Delhi were also boosted by Kuldeep Yadav's three-wicket haul on his comeback from injury against Lucknow Super Giants. In a turn of events in Lucknow, David Warner suffered a finger injury while batting against LSG and hasn't been able to "hold the bat properly yet," according to Delhi's head coach Ricky Ponting. With plenty of uncertainty surrounding the combination, Delhi have their task cut out against Gujarat Titans, a team that is desperately looking to get back to winning ways.
