The sun has finally risen for Hyderabad at IPL 2025, with the home team beating Punjab Kings by 8 wickets. A disappointing losing streak of five matches was finally buried as the Hyderabad openers took the arena by storm in the SRH vs PBKS IPL 2025 match. Matching the general perception, Hyderabad's success came riding on the back of the redemption of their opening prospects, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma. Safe to say, even Travis Head took a backseat when the young Indian batter roared his redemption at the SRH home ground after a string of disappointing knocks in IPL 2025. With the mammoth victory over PBKS, SRH has charted to the eighth spot on the points table, leaving the five-time champions, MI and CSK, at the bottom.

Punjab Kings come up with yet another batting masterclass in IPL 2025

The chase, or the Abhishek Sharma storm that engulfed Hyderabad, put the fact under the covers that PBKS had knitted a seamless first-innings total. Opting to bat first, the team led by Shreyas Iyer reaped the conditions in their favor. The centurion in their last game, Priyansh Arya, fired 36 off just 12 as the SRH bowlers went hapless against the attack. Arya's departure after the quickfire assault brought in Shreyas Iyer, who smashed a blazing 82 off just 36, making a mockery of the SRH bowling attack.

Harshal Patel brought a semblance of a comeback for SRH as he sneaked in the wickets of Shashank Singh and Glenn Maxwell. However, Marcus Stoinis arrived to make the most of the death overs, smashing the seasoned Mohammed Shami all around the park. The Australian all-rounder's 34 off just 11 with 4 sixes propelled the PBKS total to 245, as Shami posted a dismaying figure of 0/75. With the SRH batters witnessed in a slump ahead of this fixture, PBKS looked to have executed a foolproof plan for another victory in the season.

Punjab cornered by the Abhishek Sharma storm in the SRH vs PBKS match

The victory plans of PBKS met the wrath of Abhishek Sharma, who was awaiting a comeback after a long wait of five matches in the season. His opening partner, Travis Head, had tried in the earlier matches, but his shackles finally broke in front of PBKS. Punjab Kings saw their fate in the powerplay itself as the Hyderabad crowd and the PBKS team witnessed the redemption of 'Travishek'. Punjab's impact sub, Yash Thakur, dismissed a threatening-looking Abhishek in the fourth over itself. However, the dreaded sirens blared as Abhishek survived off a no-ball. The batter was dropped by Chahal soon after that, as luck spoke in the SRH opener's favor. There was no looking back from there for the young Indian star.

First a 19-ball fifty, followed by some unbelievable shots, all landing well past the boundaries, including a 106-meter six, led Abhishek to his maiden IPL century. In the meantime, Chahal managed to dismiss Travis Head as Maxwell finally got hold of a catch. However, Head's half-century, added with the madness of Abhishek Sharma, had already decided the outcome of the match. As Abhishek smashed his first ton in the IPL off just 40 balls, the youngster broke into a passionate celebration. Following his trademark celebration, Abhishek brought out a piece of paper out of his pocket and brandished the note that said, "This one is for the orange army."

Another string of mind-boggling shots came out of Abhishek's bat before he was finally dismissed at 141 off just 55. The near-150 score labeled Abhishek Sharma as the highest individual run-scorer for SRH in IPL history. Heinrich Klaasen took over from there, and not long after, Sunrisers Hyderabad buried their losing streak at home, beating Punjab Kings by 8 wickets in the penultimate over of the chase. The fireworks anticipated from the SRH openers finally arrived, as a warning has been shot to all the teams in the season.
