IPL 2025: Sai Kishore opens up about his love for the game
After losing their opening match in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season against the Punjab Kings (PBKS), the Gujarat Titans (GT) have made a phenomenal comeback with three back-to-back victories over Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad. During their most recent encounter, the Shubman Gill-led GT team registered a pretty comprehensive 7-wicket victory over the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Currently, the Gujarat Titans are placed at the second position on the IPL 2025 points table with a total of 3 wins from 4 matches this season.
For the Gujarat Titans, left-arm spinner R Sai Kishore has bowled remarkably well so far in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League especially in the crucial middle-overs phase. He is currently the fourth highest wicket-taker in the tournament with a total of 8 wickets from as many as 4 matches at an exceptional average of 14.12 and a fine economy of 7.06. After being part of the Gujarat Titans camp since 2022, the GT team management once again showed faith in the Tamil Nadu spinner procuring him at a price of INR 2 Crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
“Contribute what is coming out of the hand spin. There you go! We've popped it up, and it's time to leave the crease. I think cricket teaches you a lot of things, to get a chance, to make a name for myself it has actually shaped me as a person, it has shaped me as a cricketer so still the same fire is there, cricket is the most important thing for me in this life it is what I dedicated my life for,” left-arm spinner Sai Kishore told in a video by IPL.
“It feels good to have all those 4 AMs and four sessions a day practising alone when nobody is watching, all those things paying off Yes, this is just the beginning, we should win a lot more games for GT and a trophy as well this year As a team, I think GT, we are playing a wonderful brand of cricket, I think we are playing as a team we are playing, gelling together, we are having fun together We are genuinely enjoying each other's success, that's amazing, that's a great space to be a part of Yeah, lot more success to come," the Tamil Nadu cricketer added.
The Gujarat Titans made a bold call when they brought in spin-bowling all-rounder Washington Sundar for speedster Kagiso Rabada during the previous match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. He was not utilised with the ball as the Sunrisers Hyderabad surrendered for just 152/8 in 20 overs. Sundar came to bat at the number four slot when the Gujarat Titans were in a bit of trouble as they lost both Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler with just 16 runs on the scoreboard. On a wicket that was assisting the bowlers during the initial few overs, Sundar decided to play the attacking game and he stitched an important 90-run partnership with GT skipper Shubman Gill. The left-hander smashed an excellent knock of 49 runs off 29 balls that included 5 fours and 2 sixes.
“Honestly amazing, Sai. And I truly believe in the preparation that I've put in the last, especially three, four weeks. I genuinely believe that whenever my opportunity comes, I'll be prepared. Thank you, Sai. Honestly, you guys were cheering for me in every other ball,” Sundar said.
