The action-packed season has just started, and it's set to get more exciting by the day as the schedule for IPL 2025 has just been announced. The next edition of the leading T20 league is set to begin 12 days after the conclusion of the ICC Champions Trophy. Defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders will kickstart the proceedings on March 22 as they clash against the fan-favorites, Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Eden Gardens. Meanwhile, the champions of the leagues, Mumbai Indians and the Chennai Super Kings will lead the charge further with the "El Clasico" slated early in the IPL 2025 schedule.

IPL 2025 schedule, groups, and venues

Following the 2022 expansion of the IPL to a 10-team format, the IPL 2025 schedule follows the same grouping system, with teams divided into two groups. The schedule, meanwhile, would eather excite the fans as Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings are slated to meet twice at the league stage. Moreover, another rivalry that amped up significantly last season, Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Chennai Super Kings will also shape up twice in the season. RCB, though yet again missed out on the trophy, kicked CSK out of the playoffs contention last season. The fans of respective franchises have been at loggerheads ever since with the tussle promising a high reception of their clashes ahead.

Meanwhile, RCB and Mumbai Indians are set to meet only once, with their clash scheduled for April 7.  The first double-header of the season will take place on March 23 as the last year’s runners-up, Sunrisers Hyderabad, will square off against Rajasthan Royals at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. The tournament, featuring 10 teams, will commence just 12 days after the ICC Champions Trophy final, which is scheduled for March 9. CSK and RCB headline group 1 which further includes defending champions KKR, Rajasthan Royals, and the Punjab Kings. The second group, in turn, has Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants, MI, Delhi Capitals, and the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Matches will be hosted across 13 venues, including the ten regular home grounds. Additionally, Guwahati will serve as Rajasthan Royals’ secondary home venue, while Dharamsala and Vizag will act as alternate home grounds for Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals, respectively. IPL 2025 will feature a total of 74 matches spread across 65 days. The league stage is set to conclude on May 18, with the playoffs taking place between May 20 and May 25. The season’s grand finale is scheduled for May 25 at Eden Gardens, which will also host Qualifier 2 on May 23.
