In a positive update from the Delhi Capitals camp, Faf du Plessis will be available for selection in the Playing XI for the upcoming match against RCB. The 40-year-old batter played the initial fixtures for the team as an opener before an injury marred his further participation. However, Jake Fraser McGurk confirmed Faf's fitness for the DC vs RCB IPL 2025 match. The fixture brings Royal Challengers Bengaluru to the Arun Jaitley Stadium for their 10th league stage match in IPL 2025. Delhi Capitals will play their 9th match and would hope to exploit the home advantage to charge above at the points table. Currently, with 12 points each, DC and RCB have kept the 2nd and 3rd spot on the IPL 2025 points table respectively.

Faf du Plessis fit to play the DC vs RCB IPL 2025 match

Faf du Plessis, designated as the deputy to skipper Axar Patel in the Delhi Capitals camp, opened along with Jake Fraser-McGurk in the first two fixtures. The vice-captain hit 29 off 18 in the LSG vs DC IPL 2025 campaign opener and followed it with a half-century against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the next fixture. However, the opener was ruled out from the CSK vs DC match due to injury. While du Plessis returned to the combination for the RCB vs DC match, the injury has not allowed the batsman to play any further matches for the group. In the three matches he has played so far, du Plessis has hit 81 runs at a strike rate past 155.00.

Meanwhile, on the eve of the DC vs RCB IPL 2025 match, Jake Fraser McGurk hinted at the possibility of Faf's return to the DC Playing XI. The Australian opener himself was dropped from Delhi's team for the GT vs DC fixture on the back of a string of disappointing performances at the top. McGurk, furthermore, did not feature in their last match, the LSG vs DC match at Ekana. Meanwhile, it would be up to see if the home team gives another chance to the young opener at the Delhi ground. In his interaction with the press ahead of the upcoming match, McGurk confirmed du Plessis' availability.

“I think he’s available tomorrow, from my understanding. He should be available for selection, is my understanding," Fraser-McGurk said.

RCB is coming to Delhi after finally beating the home curse by beating Rajasthan Royals at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The fan-favorites are unlikely to make any changes to their attack for the match against Delhi. Moreover, RCB would eye to avenge their defeat to Delhi Capitals in their previous fixture where a chase masterclass by KL Rahul led DC to beat the home team by 6 wickets. DC, meanwhile, would hope to keep their winning momentum going after a commanding 8-wicket victory over LSG in their backyard.
