Ravindra Jadeja, a star all-rounder for the Indian national cricket team, recently bid farewell to the T20I format after lifting the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 at the age of 35. While he has not announced any decisions regarding his Test and ODI career, his age suggests he might not participate in the next ODI World Cup in 2027. However, with the emergence of young talents like Nitish Reddy, Shivam Dube, and Washington Sundar, it remains uncertain wheather Jadeja will secure a spot in India’s playing XI or not.
Jadeja, who comes from a political background as his wife, Rivaba Jadeja, is a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the ruling party, is following in her footsteps. He has recently joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of India's much-anticipated Test series against Bangladesh at home.
Rivaba shared this news on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), posting pictures of her husband as the newest member of the party. She also revealed their BJP membership cards with the hashtag #SadasyataAbhiyaan2024, a membership drive recently initiated by the party's national president, Mr. JP Nadda.
After joining the BJP in 2019, Rivaba contested the Jamnagar assembly seat three years later, in 2022. She achieved a decisive victory over Karshanbhai Karmur, who was sent out by the Aam Aadmi Party. Although Ravindra Jadeja has recently joined the BJP through a membership drive, it would not be surprising if he explored political opportunities with the party, given that he is nearing the end of his cricketing career.
Ravindra Jadeja’s upcoming Cricketing endeavors
Although Ravindra Jadeja retired from T20 Internationals following India’s decisive World Cup victory this year, he remains actively involved in the longer formats of the game. His contributions in Test cricket have been invaluable, and he is set to play a key role in the highly anticipated series against Bangladesh on home soil.
Given his extensive experience and significant impact with both bat and ball, Jadeja could become India’s key all-rounder for the upcoming Test series against Australia. This series will be crucial for Rohit Sharma's team in their pursuit of success in the World Test Championship.
