One look at Mumbai Indians’ social media posts and you can sense that it feels like a happy dressing room. However, after having lost three games already, the only thing that would be swirling in the back of their minds would be a desperate need to win the next game and get back the momentum. Mumbai Indians are currently sitting at number eight on the points table with just a solitary win to their name. They lost a hard-fought game by Lucknow Super Giants by 12 runs on Friday and are set to meet the Royal Challengers Bangalore at home, today.

In a massive boost to their quest to win, India’s current number-one fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah has joined the squad. MI have been overjoyed with his return and it is quite evident through their posts on social media. Mumbai Indians recently posted a video, where Bumrah could be seen cleaning up a batsman with a toe-crushing yorker.

The video clip was captioned, “Goodnight Paltan!”.

It is pertinent to note that Bumrah has returned to the field after three months. He was recovering from a back injury sustained during the Sydney Test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Australia. Bumrah’s return should give Mumbai Indians a massive boost to their ambitions.

What did Mahela Jayawardene say about Bumrah’s availability for the clash against RCB?

On the eve of the game against RCB at the pre-match press conference, Mumbai Indians head coach, Mahela Jayawardene expressed his delight at Bumrah's inclusion in the squad. While he accepted that Bumrah needed time to return to the field, he also highlighted Bumrah’s eagerness to step on the field and perform.

"He's available, he's training today, and should be available. He arrived last night, he had his sessions with NCA [National Cricket Academy, now Centre of Excellence] to finalise that, he's been handed over to our physios. He's bowling today, so all good." MI’s head coach said.

"Boom's coming back from a pretty decent layoff, so we need to give him that space. Not expect too much. Knowing Jasprit he will be up for it. We're very happy to have him in the camp, the experience he brings, that extra voice out there in the middle, chatting with Boulty [Trent Boult], chatting with Deepak [Chahar] or any other younger bowler, giving that advice is also very valuable for us. That's what we're looking forward to from him." he added.

Mumbai Indians began their IPL 2025 campaign with two consecutive losses but fought back with an eight-run win over Kolkata Knight Riders. However, they couldn't continue the winning run as they faced a 12-run defeat over Lucknow Super Giants.
