Five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) have not had the best of starts so far in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024). The Hardik Pandya-led MI team have suffered as many as two losses at the hands of Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, the Mumbai Indians will definitely be looking forward to bring a change in their fortunes when they lock horns with the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their first home game this season on 1 April, 2024 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. MI are currently languishing at the bottom of the IPL 2024 points table.
Is Kwena Maphaka playing today MI vs RR IPL 2024 Match?
During the last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in a massive high-scoring encounter, Mumbai Indians gave a chance to teenage fast bowler prodigy Kwena Maphaka as he made his Indian Premier League debut and left out left-arm pacer Luke Wood who conceded 25 runs in his couple of overs against Gujarat Titans. However, the Under 19 speedster failed to show any impact at the grandest stage of all, having conceded a total of 66 runs in his quota of four overs and also failed to take a single wicket. After an impressive show with the ball during the recently concluded ICC Under 19 World Cup, Mumbai Indians bought Maphaka as a replacement for the injured Dilshan Madushanka at his base price of INR 50 Lakh.
Despite conceding 66 runs, Maphaka is very much likely to retain his place in the MI playing XI on Monday. The Mumbai Indians are expected to play with the same line-up that fielded against Sunrisers Hyderabad as there is still no update about the return of Suryakumar Yadav from injury.
