Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will be taking on the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 12th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season scheduled to be hosted at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on 31 March, 2025. The Ajinkya Rahane-led team have witnessed quite mixed fortunes unfold so far in the ongoing T20 competition as they ended up losing the opening match of the season at the hands of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). However, Kolkata Knight Riders made a strong comeback in the second match as they defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 8 wickets. Therefore, it will be important for KKR to continue this winning momentum further in the tournament as well. 

Sunil Narine to play today's MI vs KKR IPL 2025 match?

The biggest update is that Kolkata Knight Riders' head coach Chandrakant Pandit has confirmed that their premier overseas all-rounder Sunil Narine is absolutely fit and available for selection in the MI vs KKR IPL 2025 match starting on Monday. Incidentally, the former West Indies cricketer missed the last game against Rajasthan Royals as he was suffering from ill-health. However, KKR head coach has now revealed that Narine was practicing completely well ahead of the crucial game against Mumbai Indians. This also means that the swashbuckling all-rounder will straightaway walk back into the KKR playing 11. 

“Sunil is 100% fit. He has definitely recovered well and he’s been practising since yesterday (Saturday). Today he is practising as well so he is absolutely fine at the moment,” KKR head coach Chandrakant Pandit informed on eve of their third IPL 2025 game.

“See, as a coach, as a team management, whatever the surface has been provided to us, we play. The control, of course, that will be under curator. And at this moment, the focus is definitely going to be on the next game tomorrow (Monday) which we are playing. So, at the moment, I am definitely not thinking on what has to be done, what is in whose control. But let us focus on tomorrow’s game which is very crucial for us," he added. 

During the IPL 2025 opener againts RCB, Sunil Narine smashed a quick-fire knock of 44 runs off just 26 balls and he also picked up a wicket with the ball. His all-rounder abilities played a crucial role in KKR lifting their third IPL trophy in 2024. He finished IPL 2024 with a total of 17 wickets alongside a sensational batting strike-rate of over 180. Narine has picked up an exceptional tally of 180 IPL wickets in 176 matches at an excellent economy of 6.73. He is very much likely to replace Moeen Ali in the KKR playing XI for the Mumbai Indians vs Kolkata Knight Riders IPL 2025 match.
