Ahead of match 33 of the IPL 2024 season between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians, Indian captain Rohit Sharma on the podcast "Club Prairie Fire", revealed why it would be difficult to convince MS Dhoni to play in the T20 World Cup but it would be very easy to convince Dinesh Karthik and also talks about his brotherhood with Rishabh Pant. A couple of days ago, there were many fake reports going around that Rohit Sharma, Rahul Dravid and Ajit Agarkar caught up in Mumbai for a two-hour-long meeting. According to the reports, two major topics were discussed. Firstly, the need for Hardik Pandya to bowl more regularly in order to guarantee a place in India's T20 World Cup team, and the requirement of Virat Kohli to open with captain Rohit in the T20 World Cup in order to free up a spot in the middle order.
Rohit Sharma reveals MS Dhoni's role during the T20 World Cup 2024
Ahead of Mumbai Indians' away game against Punjab Kings in Mullanpur, Indian captain Rohit Sharma on the podcast "Club Prairie Fire", revealed why it would be difficult to convince MS Dhoni to play in the T20 World Cup but it would be very easy to convince Dinesh Karthik. In six matches for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), the 38-year-old commentator Dinesh Karthik has amassed 226 runs with a strike rate of 205. Rohit said he is impressed with how MS Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik have batted in the Indian Premier League 2024 season. Rohit explained how Thala Dhoni's quick-fire 20 was the difference in the El Clasico clash against CSK at the Wankhede Stadium.
"It will be hard to convince MS Dhoni for the T20 World Cup. He is sick and tired. He is coming to the US to play golf, these days he is into golf. But DK (Dinesh Karthik) will be easier to convince," Rohit Sharma told Michael Vaughan and Adam Gilchrist on the Club Prairie Fire podcast.
"Look he (MS Dhoni) came to play for four balls, made a huge impact. He got those 20 runs, and that was eventually the difference in the end," Rohit added.

Former MI captain Rohit Sharma also spilt the beans on why he loves talking with Rishabh Pant. Even when Rishabh Pant was going through a rough patch due to his injury and not being able to play, he never lost his sense of humour. Whenever Rohit needed a good laugh, he called Pant, who always made everyone laugh with his crazy remarks.
"I have been watching him since he was a kid. I was quite disappointed for him when he missed a year and a half because of that incident. I am glad that he is back in the field. He is quite witty, the kind of stuff he does behind the stumps. He has got his own way of doing it, this is what i like about him," Rohit Sharma said.
"Even when he was going through this patch when he was injured and not playing, he was still at his best. When I need to laugh, I call him. He will say something, and all of us will burst into laughter," Rohit concluded.
Many fake reports have been going around Rohit Sharma's secret meeting with Rahul Dravid and Ajit Agarkar about the need for Hardik Pandya to bowl more regularly in order to guarantee a place in India's T20 World Cup team and the requirement of Virat Kohli to open in the T20 World Cup. In a new twist, Indian captain Rohit Sharma dismissed these reports as 'fake' news, revealing that he hasn't met anyone and requested the media and public against believing anything that is not coming directly from him, Agarkar, Dravid or the BCCI.
