KKR vs LSG: Venue unchanged, but BCCI reschedules IPL 2025 fixture
Before the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League kicked off in Kolkata, news of a potential reschedule surfaced. The home of the defending champions, Kolkata, hosted the KKR vs RCB IPL 2025 opener at the iconic Eden Gardens. The fixture went off smoothly, but the home team, KKR, lost their opener against Bengaluru. While the season began without any hiccups in Kolkata, the KKR vs LSG match, scheduled later in the tournament, faced the possibility of being rescheduled. The match, originally slated for April 6, coincided with the Ram Navami festival. After days of speculation, the change in schedule has now been confirmed.
The KKR vs LSG IPL 2025 clash remains in Kolkata but has been rescheduled. Originally set for April 6, the match will now take place on April 8. As a result, IPL will feature a double-header that Tuesday, with KKR vs LSG kicking off at 3:30 PM IST, followed by PBKS vs CSK at its original 7:30 PM slot. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the schedule change on Friday, March 28, citing a request from Kolkata Police to the Cricket Association of Bengal. The rescheduling was necessary due to security concerns arising from Ram Navami celebrations in the city.
"The authorities have recommended that the game be moved to Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 3:30 PM, and the request has been accommodated accordingly. The rest of the schedule remains unchanged.For clarity, Sunday, April 6, will now be a single-header match day, with Sunrisers Hyderabad hosting Gujarat Titans at 7:30 PM (Match No. 20) as originally scheduled. Tuesday, April 8, will be a double-header match day, featuring the KKR vs. LSG fixture in the afternoon in Kolkata, followed by Punjab Kings hosting Chennai Super Kings (Match No. 22) in New Chandigarh in the evening, as per the original schedule," the BCCI press release read on Friday.

Earlier, speculation suggested the match could be shifted to Guwahati. However, reports indicated that CAB was making every effort to ensure the game remained at Eden Gardens. Kolkata, meanwhile, successfully managed to keep the game at home for KKR. KKR, meanwhile, has collected its first win of the season after opening their IPL 2025 campaign with a defeat against RCB. The defending champions beat Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati by a seamless margin to register their first win in the 18th edition.
