While KL Rahul had joined the Delhi Capitals camp in Vizag, the wicketkeeper-batter flew back to Mumbai to be with his wife. The couple, who tied the knot in January 2023, announced their pregnancy in November last year. Meanwhile, KL Rahul had an outstanding run with the bat in the ICC Champions Trophy. As Team India lifted their second ICC trophy within a year, Rahul redeemed his standing in the ODI format after the heavy setback of the 2023 ODI World Cup. Upon his return, the cricketer posted heartwarming images with his wife, Bollywood actress Athiya Shetty, as they flaunted the pregnancy.

As IPL 2025 neared, discussions arose about Rahul's availability in the initial stage. The wicketkeeper-batter is set to play for Delhi Capitals this season after parting ways with LSG following IPL 2024. While KL Rahul had joined the Delhi Capitals camp in Visakhapatnam ahead of the DC vs LSG IPL 2025 campaign opener, the cricketer returned home.
