The USA cricket team defeated Bangladesh in the 1st T20I match of the 3-match T20I series at Prairie View Cricket Complex in Houston by 5 wickets while chasing a target of 153 runs in 20 overs. This historic win was the first win for the USA team against Bangladesh before heading towards the marquee event scheduled from June 2nd in USA and West Indies. Batting first, the Bangladesh team posted a total of 153 runs against the home team. Towhid Hridoy and Mahmudullah were the highest scorers from their team, with 58 and 31 runs, respectively. In return, USA chased down the target in the final over of the innings with the help of Corey Anderson's 31 and Harmeet Singh's blazing knock of 33 runs in 13 balls, which included 2 boundaries and 3 sixes all over the ground. Apart from Hridoy and Mahmudullah, no Bangladesh batter were unable to score runs from the guest team, which caused them a disappointing loss by 5 wickets. It's the second defeat for Bangladesh after Zimbabwe defeated them in the final match of the 5-match T20I series.
Bangladesh's Tiger was particularly let down by Litton Das, who hasn't looked in form since his return to Bangladesh's team as in his previous 10 T20I innings, the stylish right-hander has managed only 188 runs at an average of 20.89. Therefore, considering his poor performance form, Bangladesh might drop Litton Das, replacing him with in-form opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim in their playing XI for this must-win clash.
However, after conceding 41 runs in his four-over spell, experienced left-arm seamer Mustafizur Rahman could get another chance as he took two crucial wickets in the first game.
