India and Bangladesh will engage in a two-match Test series at the former’s home starting on September 19. India will be considered the favorites for the series win, given their unbeaten record against their neighbors. However, Bangladesh will arrive in India after achieving a historic clean sweep against Pakistan at the latter's home. This victory marked Bangladesh's first-ever Test series win over Pakistan. Furthermore, the victory was not a mere fluke but a dominant performance, with the visitors securing a 10-wicket win over Pakistan in the first Test. With all attention now on the Bangladesh Tour of India, Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das has expressed that the team has moved on from their victory against Pakistan and is prepared for the challenge that lies ahead in India.
"It's important to leave the Pakistan series behind," says Litton Das ahead of Bangladesh Tour of India
In his latest interaction, Litton Das explained that their remarkable victory against Pakistan is now behind them, and the focus must shift to the upcoming series against India. Bangladesh is set to arrive in India on September 15 for the two-match Test series, followed by a T20I series comprising three matches. Despite their recent success, having secured their first-ever Test series win over Pakistan, Litton emphasized that it's time to move past that achievement. He stressed that the team must concentrate on their forthcoming challenges instead of dwelling on past successes.
"Obviously, it is very important to leave the Pakistan series behind and you (media) also need to help a bit. It would be better if you don't talk too much about the Pakistan series. There is a big challenging series ahead against India. For me as a player, that is in the past. But we definitely gained confidence from that,” the Bangladesh wicket-keeper batter said.
Das, who led Bangladesh to a 6-wicket win over Pakistan in the second Test with an impressive century, further discussed the challenges of facing India. As highlighted by the head-to-head Test records between the nations, India is currently far ahead of Bangladesh. Das, explaining the situation, stated that his side is certain to face challenges on the tour, as India has an exemplary record in home conditions.
"When we play India at their home, they are always the better side. I wouldn't say it will be extremely challenging or very easy. They are a very good team in their own conditions. If you look at the rankings, they are so high up. So I think it will be a challenging series for us," he added.
The wicketkeeper also highlighted the adjustments Bangladesh will need to make for the red-ball series against India. India uses the SG ball instead of the Kookaburra. Das noted that the nature of the balls changes as they age during a match. Accustomed to playing with the Kookaburra, Das mentioned that adapting to the nature of the SG ball will be one of the trickiest tasks for the team.
"We rarely play with that ball. It will be challenging. The players are working very hard,” Litton highlighted. "The SG ball is somewhat difficult. It's tough to play with the Kookaburra when the ball is new, but it's easier to play once the ball is old. However, with the SG ball, playing with the new ball is somewhat easier, but playing with the old ball is tougher. We are practicing; let’s see what happens,” he further explained.
