In match number 5 of LPL (Lanka Premier League), Galle Marvels defeated Jaffna Kings by 7 runs at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium after winning the toss and opting to bowl first. Colombo Strikers made an incredible return to the game by taking 6 back-to-back wickets in a span of 23 runs after the fall of the first wicket on the score of 71 runs. Despite this, the Strikers lost the match by 7 runs. Through this article, we are going to know what went wrong for the Colombo Strikers In the Match Against Galle Marvels. After winning the toss Colombo Strikers opted to bowl first at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, where the Marvels openers Dickwella and Alex Hales, gave a flying start of 71 runs in the first 6 overs of the powerplay. Before Colombo, made a return to the game by taking 6 back-to-back wickets in the span of 23 runs in 10 overs. 

Sahan Arachchige and Ishuru Udana made 79 runs for the 7th wicket taking the Marvels to a competitive total of 172 runs. Arachchige and Udana took on the Colombo Strikers  bowlers and scored 35 and 52 runs, respectively.

In the second innings, Colombo Strikers got a flying start with the help of Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who was the leading run-scorer of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup with 29 runs in 17 balls hitting 1 boundary and 3 sixes on a strike rate of 170. Strikers could not utilise the start given by Gurbaz as they lost 2 back-to-back wickets in the span of 32 runs in first 6 overs of the spell, the score of Strikers was 57 runs for 3 wickets.

Colombo Strikers were required 140 runs to win the match in 84 balls with 7 wickets in hand, they could easily chase down the target, but the constant fall of wickets in regular intervals made the target difficult for them. Dunith Wellalage played a crucial knock down the order in the run-chase by scoring 45 runs in 26 balls, hitting 5 boundaries and 2 sixes on a strike rate of 170.

Ishuru Udana bowled the last over from Galle innings when Colombo was required 16 runs off 6 balls, he handled his nerve and defended the target by 7 runs, taking Galle, to their second victory in the tournament.

With this win, Galle has reached the top of the table with 2-back-to-back wins. Galle Titnas will be seen playing their next match against Jaffna Kings in match number 6 tomorrow at Dambulla International Stadium.
