On day 3 of the First Test match between West Indies and South Africa, the West Indies team had scored 145 runs for the loss of 4 wickets while surpassing the total of 357 runs which was given by the Proteasd team in the first innings with the help of crucial knocks by captain Temba Bavuma and Zorzy when they scored 86 and 76 runs, taking the team to a decent total in first innings against the lethal pace attack of Carribaen fast bowlers Warrican, Roach and Seales picking 4,2 and 3 wickets respectively at the pitch of Queens Park Oval in Trininnad.
However, in the second innings, the South African team made a strong comeback by picking 4 wickets over the home team with the help of Keshav Maharaj, who took 3 wickets, putting the West Indies team on the back foot.
Maharaj bowled 28 overs spells where he just conceded 45 runs while bowling 13 maiden overs and picking 3 crucial wickets. The 3rd day started with back-to-back wickets of the South African team on the score of 328 runs when Kyle Verreynne and Keshav Mahraja got out on the score of 39 and 0 runs in over of Warrinacan. However, Kagiso Rabada took the team to 357 runs with his crucial 21 runs innings.
West Indies started the second inning by forming 50 runs by Karige Braithwaite and Michel Louis. Nevertheless, they couldn't take it forward they got their first wicket out on the score of 53 runs with a brilliant runout by Wiaan Mulder. Irrespective of falling of wicket, the West Indies team formed a crucial partnership of another 61 runs between Canty and Louis for the second wicket before facing 3 continuous blows by Kaeshav Maharaj in a span of 10 runs by picking wickets of Louis, Canty and Athanaze on the score of 35, 42 and 3 runs, respectively.
On the end of Day 3 before the stumps, Jason Holder and Kevam Hodge are on the crease with West Indies scoring 145 runs for the fall of 4 wickets in 67 overs trailed by 212 runs.
