In the 20th encounter of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season, hosts Mumbai Indians (MI) are taking on the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) being played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. It has been a really different story for both these teams so far in this T20 competition. The Mumbai Indians have managed to win just a single match in IPL 2025, conceding a total of three defeats while Royal Challengers Bengaluru ended up suffering their first loss of this season against Gujarat Titans after they won back-to-back games at the start. Therefore, both these teams will be focussing on attaining some sort of consistency in the middle-phase of this competition.

After losing the toss and being asked to bat first on a pretty flat Wankhede wicket, the Royal Challengers Bangalore got off to a perfect start as their in-form opening batter Phil Salt smashed a brilliant boundary off the very first ball of the MI vs RCB IPL 2025 match. However, in an anti-climax moment, MI's left-arm pacer Trent Boult bowled a wonderful in-swinging delivery on the next ball to knock down Salt with a beauty. It was an amazing revenge for the Mumbai Indians fast bowler after being hit for a boundary off the first delivery.

This was the 31st wicket in the first over of the Indian Premier League for Trent Boult and he is at the top position on this list of wickets in the first over since IPL 2020. The Rajasthan Royals have taken 28 wickets in the first over where Boult is once again leading the charts with 19 scalps.

Earlier during the toss, Mumbai Indians captain delightfully revealed that both their star cricketers, Jasprit Bumrah and Rohit Sharma are back for this crucial game. After having returned from a long injury lay-off, speedster Bumrah is back into the MI playing XI while Rohit is expected to come out as the Impact Player in the second innings. The senior Mumbai Indians opening batter missed the last match against Lucknow Super Giants as he got hit on the knee during the practice sessions.
